First seen off Flamborough Head on the 3rd September, Yorkshire's first Brown Booby certainly caused a masive stir amongst local birders lucky enough to be there for the 30 minutes or so it was lingering offshore.
Luckily it was relocated the next day sitting on rocks on the end of Filey Brigg where it stayed for day or so before heading further up the coast to South Gare, Cleveland, where it remains to date.
First seen in British waters in 2019 off the Kent coast, there were an amazing 4 other Brown Booby records on the south coast in the same year and there's been a handful since but this one, an adult female, is one of at least 2 records this year and, following hot on the heels of the Red Footed Booby on the Scilly Isles in August, we can probably expect more booby delights in the future.

Nigel Webster - for his iconic pic. As far as I know there were no pics of the bird off Flamborough, making this the first Brown Booby to be photographed in Yorkshire!
